Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an exciting judo adventure that fosters discipline, fitness, and tons of fun!

FUNdamental Youth Beginners (ages 6-12) | 5:30-6:10
Pre-Competitive (ages 9-12) | 6:15-7:15 PM
Adult Recreational (ages 13+) | 6:15-7:15 PM
High School & Competitive (ages 13+) | 7:15-9:00 PM

Classes use ages and belts as guidelines. The technical director will assign you to the best suited for you. Contact us if you are unsure of which class is best for you!
Each student must have a Judo uniform or “judogi”. New judogi's may be purchased at a discounted rate through the club. Click here to learn more about judogis.

FUNdamentals Youth - Beginners

Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30-6:10 PM
Ages 6-12 - beginner to yellow belt

FUNdamental Judo class offers judoka (students) the opportunity to develop general awareness of the body and general fitness through judo-specific activities and games . All judoka will focus on Judo etiquette, rules and concept of fair play. There is a focus on technical development and an introduction to modified competition.

Pre-Competitive Youth

Ages 9-12 yellow stripe to green belts

Pre-competitive Youth Judo is for returning judoka will continue to develop their fitness & refine their technical development as they work towards their next belt rank. Judo etiquette, rules and concept of fair play are reinforced as they work towards increased technical development & prepare for shiai (competition).

High School & Competitive Judo

Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:15-9:00 PM
Athletes ages 13+ colored belts

Competitive Judo students in this program develop a good work ethic, train hard and learn to never give up as they work towards increased technical development & prepare for shiai (competition). Judoka will continue to develop their fitness & refine their technical development as they work towards their next belt rank.

Recreational Judo

Recreational Judo

Get Fit, Keep Healthy, Learn Something New, Meet New People, Do It For Fun

This class is designed for recreational and beginners participants without any prior Judo experience. Judoka will be introduced to the fundamentals of Judo. These classes offer adults the opportunity to work at their own pace as they are introduced to the basics of falling techniques, footwork and basics of posture. The emphasis is not competition, but the chance to get fit, meet new people, move up the grade system with the aim of achieving their black belt, and have fun. The ultimate goal is 'perfection' of techniques.

Jigoro Kano Shihan, the founder of judo, explains there are essentially two ways of practicing judo: randori (with its variant in competition) and kata. Kata literally means “form”.

The goal of this kata & grading class is to learn and practice the fundamental principals and techniques of judo. It is important for the student and teacher to incorporate kata in their training.

FUNdamental Judo - Parent & Child

Ages 4-6 (with parent on mats)

FUNdamental Judo Parent & Child class offers an opportunity for children to work together with their parent(s) to develop basic movement patterns and general fitness. Participants will be introduced to Judo etiquette and sport-specific skills through judo-related games. Focus will be on FUN & FITNESS.

We are run by volunteers and have no paid coaches. Many members donate their time and expertise to make our clubs successful!

Judo Saskatchewan/Judo Canada Membership Information

Membership in Judo Saskatchewan is mandatory for everybody training at Shinmura Judo. Judo Saskatchewan is the provincial organization responsible for promoting and developing Judo in the province. Membership provides substantial benefits such as supplemental insurance against any injuries resulting from Judo training. It also supports seminars, referee training, provincial team development, and other activities that strengthen the future of Judo in Saskatchewan.
